I was invited by Betty Hart, President of the Colorado Theatre Guild, to Co-Directing the 2023 17th Annual Henry Awards—the regional theatre awards for all of Colorado theatre.

Alongside Alicia “Lisa” Young (Co-Director) and Connie Lane (Stage Manager), I worked in collaboration to plan the event within a 5-week timeline. Alicia and I felt it was important to uplift the voices in our community who were historically excluded, undervalued, and/or underrepresented, and worked actively to invite presenters from these communities for visibility at the largest annual fundraiser for the Colorado Theatre Guild. 

We also wanted to highlight our optimism and hope for the transformative position of the theatre industry as a whole in its current form, and chose the theme of Metamorphosis for the event. We chose a color palette of jewel-tone blues, pinks, purples, and turquoise to create an atmosphere of magic, etherealism, and possibility. 

The event was highly successful and an incredible opportunity to emphasize a feeling of hope and excitement for the future of Colorado theatre and the industry as a whole.
